Born in Towson, Maryland, Kimmie Meissner is a figure skater that became a World Champion in 2006 and a National Champion in 2007. She also competed in the U.S. Olympic games in 2006 where she finished 6th place.
We caught up with Meissner at an outdoor ice skating event in Rockville where she performed and signed autographs for hundreds of fans.
How was it to compete in the U.S. Olympics at such a young age?
To get to the Olympics in 2006 was difficult. You had to place in the top two at nationals because there were only two spots and the talent was pretty tough. I competed against people that I looked up to as a child such as Sasha Cohen, Michelle Kwan, and Emily Hughes. It was the best thing that has happened to me.
