Woman carjacked near Laurel Walmart


LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- Anne Arundel County police need your help looking for a man who they say carjacked a woman near the Laurel Walmart early Sunday morning.

It happened at approximately 12:54 a.m. in the area of the Walmart located at 3549 Russett Green East.

A 48-year-old woman told police officers that a man threatened her with a large kitchen knife and then drove off with her car. She ran away and was not injured.

Police say the car, a 2007 black 4-door Toyota Camry with Md. plates 6CHJ73 is still missing.

The suspect is described as a
black male, 5'7", medium build, wearing a white jacket, armed with a large kitchen knife.


Police: Teens placed fake delivery orders, robbed drivers


LAUREL Md. (WUSA9) -- Laurel Police say two teenagers robbed five restaurant delivery people at gun point in separate incidents in the area of North Arbory Way and Alan Drive.

From June 15 to June 25, police say John Sterling, 16, and Markell Bowyer ambushed each driver after placing a fake delivery order.

In each robbery, a fake delivery order was made to a local restaurant and sent to the address of a vacant house. When each driver arrived, police say they were robbed of cash and food.

A black BB replica handgun has linked the suspects to the crimes, according to police.

Both teenagers have been charged as adults for armed robbery, assault and theft. Sterling's bond was set to 50,000 dollars and Bowyer's bond was set to 75,000 dollars, according to police.


Md. suspect steals more than $26K in electronics


LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police are searching for a suspect who stole more than $26,000 worth of electronics from a Radio Shack in Laurel Wednesday morning.

Police said the robbery happened at the Radio Shack located at 901 Washington Blvd in Laurel. According to authorities, the suspect forced both of the employees into the store as they were opening up the shop.

The suspect then spray painted and hammered the surveillance cameras. The employees were also told to turn off the circuit breakers to the store, police said.

The person stole over $26,000 in cell phones and electronics, authorities said. According to authorities, the suspect ran out the back door and got into a black truck, possibly.

Md. man arrested for killing snake with shotgun


LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Laurel man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he used a shotgun to kill a snake behind his home, according to police.

Laurel police were called to 15000 block of Laurel Oaks Lane at 12:25 p.m. after getting reports of shots fired.

Police say they found James Matthews Jr. in the woods behind his home with a shotgun. Matthews told them he used the shotgun to kill the snake.

Matthews is being charged with violating a city ordinance that "prohibits the discharging of any firearm, air rifle, slingshot, or other weapon that discharges a projectile" that can hurt someone.

According to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, it is illegal to kill snakes in the state as they are a protected species.


MISSING: Brannon Achimbi, 11, Laurel


LAUREL, Md. (WUSA 9) -- Anne Arundel County Police Department's Director of Media Relations, T.J. Smith confirmed that missing 11-year-old, Brannon Achimbi, has been located and is safe.

Anne Arundel Police are looking for 11-year-old Brannon Achimbi of Laurel, Maryland. Brannon was last seen at his home on Thursday at 200 Charlotte Drive, in Laurel, Maryland wearing a "Duck Dynasty" t-shirt and camouflage shorts.

Police say that Brannon frequently runs away and visits shopping centers. Police have information he might have visited the Wal-Mart in Laurel on Friday.

FOUND: Daniel James Ennos, 13, Laurel


LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County police say a 13-year-old boy who was missing from Laurel has returned home in good health.

Police said Daniel James Ennos, of Cherry Lane in Laurel, was last seen Friday at 7:30 a.m.

Ennos is described as a black boy, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs around 130 pounds. Ennos was last seen wearing a white polo shirt, khaki shorts, and black crew shorts.

4 suspects sought in Md. robbery


LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- Anne Arundel County Police are looking for four suspects in connection with robbing a 17-year-old teen Friday night in Laurel, Md.

Police said the 17-year-old teen was leaving a party around 10 p.m. when the suspects went up to him.

One of the suspects demanded his wallet and cell phone, authorities said. Police said the victim did not hand over his belongings so the suspect punched him several times in the face.

Authorities said the suspect fled the scene on foot with the 17-year-old's property.

The victim was taken to the hospital for injuries to his face.

Police say the suspect who assaulted the victim was a black male, wearing a dark shirt, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and with a medium build.

The other three suspects were also black males.
