22-year-old fatally struck by car in Laurel

LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- A twenty-year-old man was fatally struck by a car in Laurel early Wednesday morning, Howard County police said. 

The accident happened in the 9700 block of Washington Boulevard around 6:24 a.m. 

Police said a Toyota Camry was going northbound on Washington Boulevard close to Country Meadows Lane when it hit the 22-year-old man in the road. He was pronounced dead at the Laurel Regional Hospital. 

The 47-year-old driver was not hurt, police said. According to authorities the cause of the crash is still being investigated. 

Northbound Washington Boulevard remains closed at Whiskey Bottom Rd. and southbound Washington Boulevard remains closed at Maier Rd.
