Laurel man arrested in 2 back to back armed robberies

LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Laurel man has been arrested and is being charged in connection with two armed robberies that both happened in just over two hours on Monday, police said. 

Khali Ahmad Campbell, 20, was taken into custody and is facing numerous charges, Laurel police said. Campbell went into the Pasta Plus located at 209 Gorman Avenue at 5:15 p.m. with a handgun and demanded money. Campbell then fled on foot, according to authorities. Nobody was hurt during the incident. 

Campbell then went to the Holiday Inn Express at 14402 Laurel Place around 7:23 p.m. Officers responded to the hotel and spotted the suspect at the corner of Laurel Place and Cherry Lane. Police stopped the man without any issues and took him into custody. 

Police found cash and a black bb gun. 

He is being charged with two counts of armed robbery, three counts of first degree assault, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence.
