Man wanted in 2 separate robbery incidents in Laurel

LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- A suspect is being sought in connection with two separate armed robbery incidents in Laurel, Md. early Monday morning.

Police responded to the Russett Green community for reports of the two incidents that happened around 5:30 a.m.

The first incident happened when a man was walking his dog on Oxbow Place close to Widgeon Place, Anne Arundel County police said. The suspect approached the victim, pulled out a handgun and demanded money. The suspect fled after the victim told him he did not carry valuables when walking his dog. Police say the suspect drove off in a light brown, four door, 1980's style "Oldsmobile" sedan.

The second incident happened when a man was leaving his house on Jacks Reef Road and getting into his car for work. While he was warming his car, the suspect opened the driver's door, pulled out a handgun and demanded money. The man gave him an unknown amount of money. The suspect then fled the area on foot. Police say the suspect was not seen getting into a vehicle in the second robbery.

Officers searched the area for the suspect and vehicle, however did not find him. Both victims gave a similar description of the suspect from these two incidents.

The suspect is being described as a black man in his early twenties with a medium build. He was wearing a dark blue rain jacket with a hood, dark pants, and black shoes. He was armed with a dark, semi-automatic handgun, police said.
