DUI driver hits disability transport bus in Laurel

LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 36-year-old driver, believed to be driving under the influence hit a disability transport bus in Laurel Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The crash happened in in front of Laurel Elementary School located in the 500 block of Montgomery Street around 9 a.m., Laurel police said.

Police learned that the driver of the Cadillac, 36-year-old Sherry Turner of D.C. may have been intoxicated.

The five passengers inside of the bus were checked on by the fire department. Nobody was injured.

Turner was arrested. Both of the vehicles are being towed from the scene and the road should reopen shortly, police said.
