Truck hit by gunfire on the ICC

LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- A truck traveling Eastbound on the ICC was struck by gunfire on Tuesday, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.

The bullets hit the windshield of the truck. One of the occupants of the truck was injured by broken glass, transportation officials said. The other occupant of the truck was hit by a bullet, but the bullet was stopped by his clothing.

A bullet fragment was recovered


Nelson Tree Experts confirmed it was one of their trucks that was hit and that the truck was moving at the time.

The occupant injured by broken glass was taken to the hospital, treated and released.


Shortly after the incident on the ICC, gunshots struck a National Security Agency building several miles away. Authorities have not determined whether the two shootings are connected.

The investigation into the ICC shooting is ongoing and is now being handled by Prince George's County Police, officials said.
