Strathmore’s Backyard Theater provides innovative performances during Free Summer Outdoor Concerts for adults and a Backyard Theater for children, featuring international artists and musicians who bring eclectic, multicultural flavor to Strathmore’s campus through August.

Children can experience performances inspired by the cultures of Japan, Russia,India and Spain on Strathmore’s tented backyard theater stage during Backyard Theater for Children, every Thursday in July at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Families will see performances by Sin Miedo, Taikoza, Citydance and Barynya. Tickets are $8 for the general public, $7.20 for Strathmore Stars members and free for kids 2 years old and under.

This summer, enjoy fresh produce from local farmers at the Laurel Silver Diner's Local Farmer's Market!

Every Sunday, the Laurel Silver Diner will offer fresh produce from local farms at its Farmers’ Market from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This initiative is in line with the Silver Diner's fresh and local initiative, offering traditional menu items made with healthier ingredients. Silver Diner offers menu items that are created using locally sourced ingredients, which include:

Summer Programs For Children At The National Capital Trolley Museum

The National Capital Trolley Museum facility on 1313 Bonifant Road, in cooperation with the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, brings the sights and sounds of the streetcar era to visitors of all ages, especially children. This summer kids can enjoy a program of stories, crafts and videos about trolleys and railroads designed to appeal to, and educate, elementary aged children.
