PGPD Arrest Suspect Responsible for Three Burglaries in College Park

The following information was sent to us by The Prince George's County Police Department:

Double Shooting in Landover

Police are currently investigating a double shooting that occurred in the area of the 7300 block of Sheriff Road in Landover Tuesay, August 30th.  The incident occurred at around 8 p.m. Two males were found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Both victims have been transported to a nearby hospital.  The condition of both victims is unknown at this time.  Patrol officers and detectives are on the scene conducting a preliminary investigation.  More details to be provided as they become available.

Homicide Investigation

The Prince George’s County Police Department has identified the victim of yesterday’s homicide as 52 year old Glenn Albert Herzog of the 10100 block of Bignonia Drive in Laurel, Maryland.  Police arrested 56 year old Jack Sherman Rosenberg of the 5100 block of Poplar Place in Warrenton, Virginia.  Rosenberg has been charged with first degree murder and remanded to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro.  More information will be provided as it becomes available.

25 Vehicles Pulled Over at DUI Checkpoint

 

The Howard County Department of Police conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint on Friday, August 19, 2011 into the morning hours of Saturday, August 20th.  The Checkpoint was established on eastbound MD Rt. 175 at Columbia Gateway Drive in Columbia.

844 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, which was manned by Howard County Police Officers and Maryland State Police Troopers. Representatives of the local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) were also in attendance.

 Twenty Five (25) vehicles were pulled over for further examination and Ten (10) drivers were arrested and charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. Two drivers were arrested for a drug violation.

Montgomery County Man Pleads Guilty to Sex Trafficking of Juvenile

 

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Cooper Kweme, 31, of Silver Spring, Md., pled guilty today to sex trafficking of a female juvenile, stemming from a prostitution business operated by Kweme earlier this year in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.

Neil MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; James  McJunkin, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office; and M. Douglas Scott, Arlington County Chief of Policemade the announcement after the plea was accepted by United States District Judge Anthony J. Trenga.

Shots fired at Columbia townhouse; no one injured

 

Howard County police are investigating an incident in Columbia where shots were fired at a townhouse this 

weekend. No one was injured.  

 

Police responded to the 5700 block of Cedar Lane in Columbia on Saturday at 2 a.m. for a report of shots fired. 

A 39-year-old woman and her 8-year-old daughter were sleeping when unknown suspects fired shots at the 

Vandalism Discovered to School in Bethesda

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police 2nd District are investigating vandalism that was discovered July 16th to an area middle school and to vehicles parked in the neighborhood near the school.

 Early this morning, school security officers responded to North Bethesda Middle School located at 8935 Bradmoor Drive in Bethesda, for an active alarm.  They discovered vandalism to the school and contacted police.  At approximately 2:40 this morning, 2nd District officers responded to begin an investigation.  They found an ethnically-offensive word, a sexually-descriptive drawing, and several initials painted on the outside of the building.  They also found several windows had been broken.  As the investigation continued, they discovered that seven vehicles on Beech Avenue had paint on them, and one vehicle had the same ethnically-offensive word painted on it.
