Prince George's County Takes Winter Weather Precautions

LARGO, MD – Susan Hubbard, Public Information Officer, Prince George’s County’s Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T), today announced that snow crews have been notified to report to work at 3:00 AM, Friday morning, to ensure that primary roadways and hilly areas throughout the county are treated prior to and during tomorrow morning's rush hour.

Snow crews will treat county-maintained roadways, as needed, during the forecasted snow event that is projected to cover the area with less than one inch of snow during the early morning hours.  Temperatures are expected to go above freezing after 10:00 AM, which will melt any remaining ice or snow on roadways.

To assist road crews in clearing roadways, residents are requested to:

  • Move and keep vehicles off snow emergency routes
  • Park in driveways or other off-road locations

Motorists traveling in the early morning hours need to allow extra time and use extreme caution on roadways.

Residents and citizens may contact the Snow Information Center at 301.350.0500 beginning at 5:00 AM, Friday morning, should they experience problems on residential and neighborhood roadways.
