Race through the Patuxent Research Refuge.

The Refuge was established in 1936 and is the only national wildlife refuge to support wildlife research. The Refuge is world renowned for research on endangered species such as the Whooping Crane. By participating in this benefit race, you will be directly contributing to the continuance of this vital research and the environmental education, outreach and recreation missions of the Patuxent Research Refuge.

5K Course
The race will be run along Wildlife Loop at the North Tract of the Patuxent Research Refuge. Starting near Merganser Pond, the course runs through a wooded area of the Refuge and is on an asphalt and gravel road. This road is open to light, controlled vehicular traffic. A water stop will be located at the midpoint of the course.

Registration
Early registration rate is $20. After September 5th the rate will be $25. Walkers welcome! Completed forms must be postmarked by September 18th. Race day registration will be available from 8:00am to 8:45am. No refunds.

Pre-Registered Packet Pick Up
You can pick up your race packet on Saturday, September 25th from 11am-3pm at the Patuxent Research Refuge, North Tract. Packets may also be picked up race morning.

Shirts
Custom designed t-shirts will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. No shirt guarantee on race day.

Parking
Free parking is available. Car pooling is encouraged!

Race Results
Finish line and race results will be officiated by RacePacket.

Directions
-Take Baltimore-Washington Parkway to Rte. 198.
- Go east on 198 approximately one and a half miles to Bald Eagle Drive.
-Turn right on Bald Eagle Drive (before the baseball fields). Go approximately one mile to the Visitor Contact Station.
